This manual provides an overview of the design and expected delivery of the new programme. The key focus of the ACE (School Management and Leadership) programme is to facilitate real transformation in schools that is grounded in recognition of the challenges of particular contexts and the values underpinning the South African Constitution. Principals and would-be principals must understand that it is not acceptable simply to pay lip service to the ideas presented in the programme, to develop polices that are not implemented in practice or to adopt a minimal compliance stance. Instead, a deliberate attempt is made to encourage critical reflection on current practices, planning for improvement, action based on informed understandings and monitoring and evaluation that is critical and responsive. |
