Strawberry DNA Extraction

Logo for Strawberry DNA Extraction
I thought this was a cool lab activity to demonstrate that DNA can be observed without the use of expensive microscopes. I've done a similar activity that used wheat germ, but using strawberries is more practical. This is a relativly inexpensive lab activity as well.

We are now talking about DNA in my 7th grade life science course and this would be a great activity to show them the process of DNA expratction and they could also see REAL DNA which would fascinate my students. I will probably be doing this sometime next week!
