Description:
This is an online companion site to the PBS series by the same name. It explores the diverse faces and many roles of the American teacher from the 1830s to the present. Get historical
background about the profession and explore the issues and challenges that today's teachers face. There is a multimedia timeline to help put the issues and challenges into perspective. Topics covered include: A Teacher Affects Eternity, Those Who Can... Teach, and Educating to End Inequity. Even if you haven't seen the series, the site stands very well on it own. It would be very useful to student teachers in an educational foundations or history of education course.
