"The Mental Health, Law, and Policy Institute at Simon Fraser University was established in June, 1991, under the university policy governing research and study groups (AC 35). The purpose of the Institute is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration in research and training in areas related to mental health law and policy. The primary participating academic units are the Department of Psychology and the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University. Members also include individuals from other universities or from relevant provinicial and community agencies. In addition to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among academic departments, a primary purpose of the Institute is to facilitate research and training in government and community agencies. "
