This applet allows the students to explore the Ames test. This test explores the ability of chemicals to cause mutation in bacteria. It is assumed that carcinogenicity is related to mutagenicity. Students are allowed to test a variety of naturally occurring and artificially created chemicals and provides questions that the students should explore in the course of performing the experiments.
