Talkin' About Talk is part of a national celebration for the year 2005, proclaimed by the U.S. Senate as the Year of Languages in the United States. The program is co-sponsored by the College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) and the National Museum of Language near Washington, D.C. Its purpose is to encourage the study of languages, stimulate interest in linguistics, and raise awareness of the nature of language and the diversity of languages on the planet.
