Central Queensland University (CQU), Australia, faces declining student enrolment. An economic boom in Central Queensland region such as mining and building construction industries, and apprenticeship training programs within secondary schools and paid traineeships programs have driven secondary school graduates to ‘well-paid jobs' rather than ‘studies' at universities.
