Rural Traffic Safety

Though 70 percent of all crashes occur in urban areas, the majority of Minnesota’s crash fatalities take place on rural roads - a statistic that is similar in other states with large rural populations. This e-study on rural traffic safety focuses on policy options to address the most important causes of the continuing high level of rural fatalities. This substantive, introductory material is useful for teaching core public policy themes related to the "4 E's" of rural traffic safety: enforcement, education, engineering, and emergency services. This material is part of The Hubert Project collection, the premier hub for open educational resources in the public affairs field.
