Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM) is a special project of the U.S. Department of Education and the ERIC Clearinghouse on Information & Technology. GEM provides educators with quick and easy access to educational materials on the Internet.
Since the search allows educators to select from elementary through higher education levels, it is possible to use this site in a variety of ways with preservice teachers. Higher education faculty members can seek information, lesson plans, etc. to use in their courses. The preservice teachers can search for information for lesson plans to use with their students in their field experiences.
The GEM project stated that they are always looking for great new educational materials available on the Web to add to their collection. This could also give preservice teachers an opportunity to submit their learning projects to Gateway to Educational Materials.
Gateway to Educational Materials search makes it easy to locate information on the Internet. It is possible to search by keywords and by browsing subjects.
