This Macromedia ShockWave applet illustrates the principle of accommodation in the eye. The user adjusts the distance between eye and object by clicking and dragging. The applets updates the ray tracing diagram, the image size, and the lens shape in real time.

Applet demonstrates an idea not often discussed in introductory physics. Unfortunately, it is not clear as to why the lens needs to change shape as the object approaches the eye, only that it does. More explanation about the physics behind the process of focusing is needed.
