Skills & Interests

  • Arts/Art History (Advanced)
I have taught courses in History of Western Art, American Art, American Architecture, American Folk Art, History of Interior Architecture and Decorative Arts and History of Crafts. I have taught these courses by lecture and independent studies. I am currently teaching History and Appreciation of Western Art online.
  • Arts/Fine Arts (Advanced)
My Master’s degree is in Ceramics. I wrote the curriculum and established a certificate program in Ceramics at Lord Fairfax Community College where I taught courses in wheel-throwing, hand building, glazing, firing and three-dimensional design for 20 years. I organized workshops at our college presented by local and nationally-known artist and art educators. I presented talks and workshops to student organizations and community groups and raised funds for new equipment through grants, community and private donations. I founded the Student’s Fine Arts League and the Ceramic Arts Guild. These were student service organizations that raised money through the sale of their work and donated money, time and equipment to the college. I also developed new courses in jewelry, sculpture and graphic design.
