My latest challenge is to build and use an ePortfolio as inexpensively as possible. Currently I am exploring Omeka as one electronic venue. The value of ePortfolios is treble for the organization, the student, and the professional. I would say this is must learn vocabulary for the future where everything is portable.
Through my work with an ESL Instructor at HCCC and with professorial support from Western (UWO) to develop both hybrid and online courses (one in LIS another in ESL), I feel that I have become facile enough to translate/adapt an existing course or textbook to customize the content. The goal is to cerate hybrid/fully online courses utilizing on-ground multimedia and Internet.
I would say between my basic lesson planning skills learned as a SLMS plus my expertise in video and curriculum matching that I could get right into this arena. Currently this function is handled outside of my purview.
