This collection of online resources provides examples of self-administered assessments designed to help students evaluate their readiness for online classes.  Most of the resources have been developed and used by universities.

Foothill College of the California Community College System developed self-administered 20 multiple choice questions to help students assess their readiness for online learning.

Wayne State University provides a simple ten question survey with multiple choice answers for students to assess their online learning readiness.

TOOLS: Test of Online Learning Success

Dr. Marcel Kerr from Texas Weslayan University developed ToOLS as a measure of online student success. It can be used to predict various student outcomes such as end-of-course grades and computer self-efficacy. Additionally, the composite measure and subscales identify students' individual behavioral strengths and weaknesses regarding online learning.

Assessing Readiness for E-Learning

This is a journal article from 2004 Performance Improvement Quarterly, 17(4) pp. 66-79 provides support for online readiness testing.  The article also includes a questionnaire for students to evaluate their readiness for online learning.

Self Assessment of Online Learning Readiness

Loyola University New Orleans provides a 20-question self-assessment to assess readiness for online learning.   Questions require yes or no answers.

SmartMeasure Assessment Tool for Student Readiness for Online Learning at Madison Area Technical College

Madison Area Technical College (WI) provides assess to SmartMeasure/READI assessment.  The self-assessment that takes about 35 minutes to complete.  It also provides a complete report.

Self-evaluation for students considering taking Distance Learning courses

The self assessment by DANTES (Defense Activities for Non Traditional Education Support) can be used by students to  the opportunity to assess thier skills and identify possible weaknesses that may affect their success when taking distance learning classes. Once the test is started, one cannot go back to prior questions.
