Course:
Intro to Information Technology for Health Care Administrators
Prerequisites:
Students typically have completed an introductory course in computers at the most basic level.
Learning Outcomes:
Too numerous to cite here, all contributing to two major competencies. (1) Being able to adapt knowledge and skills to new software and technology (2) Being able to problem-solve issues related to health data management
Pedagogy Approach:
The course combines lectures and labs (50/50). Students work on a group project in which they investigate a type of health care-related software or computer-assisted device. Hands-on exercises are offered for MS Word, Excel and Access.
Assessment Methodology:
Students are assessed on an individual written paper, group paper and presentation, software exercises, mid-term and final exam.
