Description:

The multimedia discovery missions from NOAA Ocean Explorer provide students with an amazing resource to supplement the learning process. Here, students can watch video (FLASH) presentations or still pictures and text (HTML) of the same topic.  Great for English Language Learners!

1.

CSUB-NASA 2008 Make a Relief Map Jigsaw Puzzle

Added 11/29/2012

This hands on activity is sure to get the creativity flowing! I could use this to teach plate tectonics, topics on topography, or use it as a fun reward.

2.

Virtual Earthquake

Added 11/29/2012

This animation is a wonderful tutorial which helps to explain the concetp of SP lag time.  I could ask students to view this website over the weekend before we do a lab on calculating S and P waves.

3.

GOOGLE EARTH

Added 11/29/2012

I could use Google Earth in the classroom to help students visualize topography.  Excellent tool to make traveling the world (class trips) more accessible.

4.

Introduction to Physical Oceanography

Added 11/29/2012

This website is a full online text book and can be used as a supplemental resource for students at home, or during study hall.

5.

Virtual Museum of Fossils

Added 11/29/2012

This website can be used to assist students in mastering the Geologic time scale.  I would use this in my class by making up a scavenger hunt, and students would have to find the correct geologic time period for a certain organism.!
