Description:

Video detailing the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly.

Discussion prompts/ drawing prompts included. 

Course:

Life sciences, 2nd grade. Life Cycle of a Butterfly. 

Prerequisites:

Prior knowledge of insects and animal groupings, i.e. what makes a butterfly an insect? How do we know? Also, broad knowledge of insect attributes. 

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to describe the life cycle of a butterfly, and draw the stages. 

Pedagogy Approach:

Scaffold learning on prior knowledge of insects, show video for a visual for students, have students verbally discuss as a class, and then demonstrate their learning by drawing the life cycle. 

Assessment Methodology:

Informal assessment during discussion, assess their learning from their drawings of the life cycle.
