Chemguide: Helping you to Understand Chemistry

Added 03/06/2014
This web site has an excellent resource that covers basic atomic properties ( Electronic structures, ionisation energies, electron affinities, atomic and ionic radii, the atomic hydrogen emission spectrum),bonding and structures (ionic, molecular, covalent and metallic). Also includes explanation of redox reactions, trends in the Periodic Table. Covers kinetic theory, compares ideal and real gas, chemical equilibrium,acid/ bases, solubility and phase equilibrium.
2.

General Chemistry - Virtual Labs, Computer Animations and Simulations

Added 03/06/2014
This web site is an excellent resource for general chemistry experiments simulations and computer animations. Some of them can be used in a teacher lesson presentation, while some can be assign for students' individual or group work. I found following simulations interested for me: voltaic cell, acid/base titration, Boyle's Law, % composition, heat of solution, conductivity, colligative properties. Following animations are interested for me: dissolving, periodic trends in electronegativity and mechanism of reaction with catalyst.
3.

Chemistry Study Cards

Added 03/06/2014
This web site provides flash cards with excellent tips for The General Chemistry HS curriculum.I found flash cards with tips for memorizing naming of chemical formulas along with mathematical techniques for calculating chemical formulas and chemical equations very useful. This would be very important for students for easy and faster learning of these chapters of chemistry.
4.

Classic Chemistry Experiments

Added 03/06/2014
This is a link for PDF format of a book containing 100 classic chemistry experiments for high school. Some of experiments I think are interested: Iron in breakfast cereal, Water expands when it freezes, Fermentation, The sublimation of air freshner.

Chem1 Concept Builder

Added 03/06/2014
This is a wonderful site of all chemistry course with many images, history of chemistry and scientiest that worked and discovered important laws in chemistry field. All chapters are excellently covered. I found the chapter about gas laws with description of measuring pressure, temperature and volume, along with description of units, moles, mixtures and densities very impressive. There are many details that would be useful to incorporate in a lesson plan when teaching this chapter.
