Each podcast covers a different topic and is in the form of natural conversation between a couple in Madrid. Though the husband, Ben, is fluent, he is a native speaker of English so his thought processes are similar to English speakers learning Spanish. For example, sometimes he'll make a mistake and his wife, Marina, will correct him, explaining how his mistake is common to native English speakers when speaking Spanish. He'll then repeat after her until he gets it right. Then, they move on with the rest of the sentence or story. She also helps him with pronunciation, specifically in the accent of Madrid, obviously. However, this is only occasionally and serves as an interesting cultural insight especially for those of us who most often speak with Central or South Americans. There is new vocabulary and a transcript for each podcast that is available for download. See the website for a sample. There is a charge for the transcripts, but they are well worth it. There is also a forum on the website where people can ask them or other listeners questions. The podcasts are natural, engaging and entertaining. Often, discussions touch on cultural differences between England and Spain with the emphasis on Spanish culture, values and institutions. It is clear that the two are in love which adds an extra dimension and energy to their work, often in the form of banter and humor. All the podcasts are appropriate for classroom use or individual study. The podcasts are also strong enough to be used strictly for audio practice. Outstanding!!
