The Elgin Marbles
In the 19th Century Lord Elgin removed the Marbles atop the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The Marbles are now housed in the British Museum whose site offers visual access to these remarkable sculptures.

Instructions:Click "go to material." When the site comes up TYPE in the SEARCH box" Elgin Marbles. CLICK: What are the Elgin Marbles? Read the Introduction. Then SCROLL down to the bottom of the page and CLICK: Watch video on Parthenon Sculptures. After viewing the video, go to the right side of the page and CLICK: related articles see all. Read the four articles under "Related articles." Read and look at the eleven "Related highlight objects." Then write a 5-6 page paper describing what the Parthenon Sculptures are and describing the eleven specific items from the Related highlight objects. Be sure to include your opinions about the sculptures.
