Web-Based Mendelian Genetics Problem Sets
Topic: Mendelian Genetics: Monohybrid Crosses & Dihybrid Crosses
Objectives: Students will develop problem solving skills for both monohybrid and
dihybrid cross problems.
Students will construct multiple choice monohybrid cross and dihybrid cross
problems that demonstrate their conceptual understanding of the material.
Students will become familiar with answering online problem sets, as well as
traditional means through problem composition.
Students will have had practice with both monohybrid and dihybrid cross
problems. This assignment will be used near the middle of the unit. It will
serve as a review for the monohybrid problems and practice on the newly
introduced dihybrid prolems.
Students will individually complete the online problem sets at the following
website. The problem sets available are Monohybrid Crosses and Dihybrid
Crosses. You are expected to work out the problems (create Punnett Squares,
etc.) as you go through the set. You will be required to turn in your work for
both problem sets. If you answer a question incorrectly, utilize the tutorial
to help you understand the correct answer as well as to amend your answer on
your paper. Your grade is not dependent upon the number of questions you
answered correctly the first time, but the effort you put forth to learn the
concepts! Take notes, they will only assist you in learning the material!
