Introduction: Genetics is an important part in our lives. We can use genetics
to solve many problems and cases. We can find out blood types, diseases, and
DNA. This web assignments will help you learn how genetics can be used and how
certain diseases can be identify.

Task: Go to the website:
Play the role of a cytogenetic technician and go through the web karyotyping
activity. You will need to complete all three karyotypes for each patients.
You will have to write down your answer and hand them in to me. There should be
seven answers (two for each patient and one for web search). Pick your groups
and go through one of the topics listed on the webpage (Blood type, human
genetics, color blindness, DNA forensics I, and DNA forensics II). You will be
presenting these topics to your classmates. In your group presentations you
will have to introduce the class to the topic. You will have to tell general
ideas involved with that topic. Everyone in the group will have to participate
and present. You will have to go through the tutorial for the topic you chose
and turn in the answers to me before your group presentation.

Process: 1. Go to the site and click on web karyotyping.
2. Read all the directions and follow them.
3. Go through all the patients karyotypes and write the answer down.
4. Search the biology. site for a good genetic disorder and write
it down.
5. Select your groups and topic. Select days to present too.
6. Go through the tutorial and write down the answers.
7. Find interesting facts about your topic using the website.
8. Plan your group presentations and get ready to present.
9. Fill out peer evaluations.

Conclusion: You will learn more about genetics that I can not cover by lecture.
You will get a better understanding of how to karyotype and will have gone
through some tutorials that will help you understand genetics better.
