Writing a Biography. What to Include?

1. Birth date, place of birth.
2. Identity of parents and siblings.
3. Educational background.
4. Places resided: where and when.
5. Career choices: jobs held, where and when.
6. Date of marriage(s), name of spouse(s).
7. Names and birth dates of children.
8. Major events in the person's life.
9. Why the person is historically significant?
10.Death date, places of death and burial; cause of death.
11.Will and will's contents.
13.People who shaped the subject's life.
14.Religious background.
15.Other information of importance.


1. Go on line.
2. Click enter.
3. On the diagram of House and Parlor, click Topical Articles.
4. Scroll down to the Mayflower Passengers, Ages, Occupations, Origins, and Connections and click.
5. Select a person from the passenger list.
6. Click to Return to Topical Page.
7. Click the Archive Home Page.
8. Click Search.
9. Type the name of the passenger. Select the appropriate items for Match, Dated, Within, Show, and Sort by. Click Search.
10. A list of resources will come up about the Mayflower passenger selected.
11. Read the materials.
12. Write a 7-10 page biography about the passenger selected using all known archival material available on this site.
