1. I reviewed the material by trying out some of the games and puzzles applets the site had to offer. For example, I played a game called “A Game With Coins” which I ended up winning multiple times. I spent about a half an hour running through different applets.
2. The quality of content on http://www.cut-the-knot.org/ is very good. All of the games and puzzles accurately present concepts and models that are educationally significant by allowing the student to try problems hands on through the use of java applets. These java applets indicate whether you win or lose and each applet is accompanied by discussions and explanations of the math involved in trying to solve the problem.
3. Cut the knot dot org has tremendous potential for learning and enhancing teaching by providing a plethora of material in the area of arithmetic and algebra to discuss and assign to students for homework and in class discussion.
4. For me, using the materials presented to me was very easy. The site mainly uses java applets to illustrate a math game or puzzle which work in conjunction with an internet browser. Most browsers are enabled to do this and if not the browser directs you to Sun’s website where you can download the appropriate software which is very easy to do. Chances are, if you are on the internet browsing sites, you have java installed and enabled to work with your browser.
