Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
The module is clear, concise, current, relevant, flexible, and summarizes concepts well. The video utilizes excellent graphics in terms of being clever, quick paced, and humorous. The presentation is flexible in that revenue, expenditure, and human resource transaction cycle concepts are illustrated. In addition, different kinds of businesses (production and retail) are included. The presentation takes a business life cycle perspective, from startup through implementation, including report generation.
Concerns:
While a 30 second advertisement for the company that created the videos occurs at the end of the video, given the high quality of the materials it was not objectionable.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The module identifies learning objective, reinforces concepts progressively, builds on prior concepts, and is very efficient. Nice demonstrations and applications of electronic data interchange (EDI) and supply chain management are included along with how they tie in with ERP. The inclusion of the dashboard concept with an approach that readily gets the concept across is very good. Finally, the video also provides international concepts at several points throughout.
Concerns:
None
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The module is easy to use and is of high-design quality. The video incorporates a nice use of color, various fonts, and hilarious little side jokes that retain interest and focus of the viewer. Interest would be maintained with repeat viewings, as so much subtle humor exists, that the viewer surely will notice something fresh the second time through. Amazingly well done!
Concerns:
As is the case with most videos, interactivity is lacking.
Other Issues and Comments:
The closed captioning is very distracting with distortions occur with many words due to the quick pace and nature of the content. While this result is not the video creator’s fault, just the reality of a trade-off between a brisk interesting video and the clarity of the spoken word.
