Authored by Bonni Stachowiak, Teaching in Higher Ed contains a series of blog posts and podcasts in the areas of educational technology, personal knowledge mastery, teaching, and productivity. Dr. Stachowiak is Associate Professor of Business and Management at Vanguard University of Southern California.
The Teaching in Higher Ed podcast is the most substantial part of the site as well as the most pertinent for users of Merlot Faculty Development and Pedagogy resources. Inaugurated in June of 2014, it contains 78 podcasts ranging in length from approximately 25 to 45 minutes as of December 2015. This represents almost one per week. Almost all podcasts are interviews with a guest who is a respected researcher, published author, and/or informed and engaged practitioner in the field.
At the opening of each podcast, Bonni states the site purpose: “This is the space where we explore the art and science of being more effective at facilitating learning. We also share ways to increase our personal productivity approaches so we can have more peace in our lives and be even more present for our students.”
Each podcast blog post contains brief, important notes, quotes, and references mentioned during the podcast. Viewers may subscribe to receive blog posts from the entire site via email. The podcasts can be subscribed to via iTunes, on Android, and RSS.
