The WordPress for iOS app allows iPhone and iPad users with WordPress blogs to share photos and create and edit posts directly from their devices.
Type of Material:
Social Networking Tool
Recommended Uses:
This app is useful for making quick edits, checking the most current stats about your WordPress blog use, and responding to the latest comments on your WordPress blog. WordPress can be used as a reflection tool for student work. Having the iOS option available gives students more device flexibility when reflecting.
Technical Requirements:
Requires iOS 10.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Identify Major Learning Goals:
The goal of the WordPress app is to allow users to create and/or manage a WordPress blog directly from an iOS device. Users can publish in the palm of their hands and check blog stats from their devices.
Target Student Population:
College students and faculty can benefit from being able to blog directly from their mobile devices.
Prerequisite Knowledge or Skills:
None. Users can create a WordPress blog directly from the app or login in to a pre-existing WordPress blog.

Concerns:
None.
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
The app does not provide complete access to all of WordPress’s web-based features, but what it does offer supports the user "on the go" whether for managing blogs and comments, or writing and updating posts. It works with blogs hosted on WordPress.com.
Concerns:
The app does not provide complete access to all of the feature found on the web-based version of WordPress.
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
The sidebar in the WordPress iOS app features links to posts, pages, comments, stats, and the WordPress dashboard. Because of the size difference, managing a blog with this app is easier with an iPad than it is with an iPhone, but the app works well on the iPhone. Often bloggers develop a draft post before publishing it. This is where this app may help with efficiency--generate the draft while "on the go" and then review and publish from a computer later.
Concerns:
None.
