This textbook is a nice resource in that it is free to users (after Bookboon sign-in, either by creating an account or using email/social media to access it) and is short and to the point. Despite listing “Professional” as the primary audience, it could easily be used in an undergraduate or graduate course. The discussion is very readable with helpful graphics, and covers a large amount of material across nine chapters.
It would be easy to integrate into a course as a text resource. The chapters are short, with a lot of informaiton, with little fluff, that should easily engage students. It contains strong presentation of concepts.
At times, the graphics are somewhat unclear/unreadable, and need to be adjusted on the computer screen to capture the smaller images or words. Although there are chapter summaries, the text is missing review questions and cases that are common in for-profit texts. Additionally, the foundational material is there, but there are little to no real-life business examples within the chapters, and this may inhibit student application. Lastly, the text is not accompanied by cases, Powerpoint presentations, test bank, or other instructor resources that are common with for-profit publications. Instructors utilizing this text will need to create supportive content.
Instructors will need to develop their own learning outcomes and objectives for content/assignments, as well as other instructional support items, such as exams and presentation files.
