focused plan." Site provides a variety of materials related to the commercially
available Self Assessment Tool, books, and workshops and serves as a
promotional tool for the sale of such products and services.
Type of Material:: Summary and promotional materials and short articles related to the Drucker
Foundation's tools and workshops.
Recommended Uses:: Summaries on a technique for clarifying organizational mission statements could
be used in support of course/session coverage of issues around mission
identification and development.

Strengths:: These materials and the manner in which they are presented work strongly against
incorrect assumptions held by some managers that not-for-profit and public
sector organizations do not need strategic management. Based on ideas and
approacheds developed by Peter Drucker, one of the pre-eminent management
thinkers of our time, this web site and associated materials and services
support the development of more effective strategies for not-for-profit and
public sector organizations.
Concerns:: The materials are not organized so that a person can go to a single source for
overall concepts and plans to develop not-for-profit and public sector
strategies. The site focuses fairly heavily on selling its materials and
services.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Strengths:: The materials and services offered on the site are designed in a way that could
facilitate learning, in addition to practical use.
Concerns:: The focus of the site and its materials and services is oriented more to
practical use than to learning. The materials are designed primarily for
practitioners and consultants, not students.

Concerns:: Not really designed for students and faculty, but rather for consultants and
clients. Content mixes summaries of substantive nature with promotional
materials.
