Evaluation and Observation

Content Quality

Rating: 3.75 stars
Strengths: • The lesson plan can be used as a template for the instructor to customize to the local economy with ideas on the different sectors. • The content has an Activity to support the explanation and had supporting explanation of Circular Flow on slide 6 • Provided a Activity based discussion question for classroom or online usage
Concerns: • On the activity page, the links entitled ‘Circular Flow of Income’ and ‘National Farmers' Union Web site’ are not working. There are only 6 slides in the powerpoint that summarizes prior knowledge of the Circular Flow of Income, and there is a link on the last slide that is not working. • Was not clear what the scholarship was and what background was required.

Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool

Rating: 3.5 stars
Strengths: • Identify the role of the government in influencing business activity • Understand the different ways in which business organizations are impacted upon by policy • Gives student a good starting point to initiate discussions on the effect of government policy • The instructor can take advantage of the Activity page provided at the website as an opening , a summary or closure to the chapter on ‘Fiscal Policy’ in class and online as an isolated case study overseas , and then relating it to the policies in United States for similarities and differences between the two countries.
Concerns: • Not much detail or explanation for the viewer • Question effectiveness of the 6 slides and the presentation on Circular Flow • Audience for presentation is very specific • The PowerPoint slides are dated 2006 while the Activity webpage is dated 2004. That is about 6-8 years ago and since there has been a change in government in UK, it’s not up-to-date with what is actually happening in the British economy at the present time.

Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty

Rating: 4 stars
Strengths: • Website was easy to connect to and easy to maneuver on the page • Was easy to view and the presentation was clear and engaging • Information is laid out on one page with easy access to the powerpoint presentation and activity page.
Concerns: • Not clear what the goal of the presentation and Activity, appears to be a portion of certification • A short presentation on an important economic topic, the webpage information did not explain the value of the presentation and activity • There is no interactive feature and it’s dated.

Other Issues and Comments: Just not much detailed explanation for viewer to learn from
