Speakers discuss relationship building and collaboration enrichment through the utilization of current events.

One of the top predictors of student success is whether or not students form relationships with their professors and their peers. In psychology, learning is further enhanced when the material is applied. Forming relationships and content applications can be more difficult to achieve in an online/remote environment. This session will discuss how introductory psychology faculty can utilize current events and the technology tool Flip Grid to address both of these goals. Flip Grid, using mobile technology, allows students to record video discussion boards and reply to one another via video. Assigning students to dive into current events to connect course material, then using Flip Grid to increase student interaction to discuss this content, will lead to increased student understanding and, ultimately, a higher success rate in your General Psychology course.
