This website is an online community for students of biology and for anyone who wants to learn more about the subject. There are many useful features on the website. It offers tutorials on a wide range of topics in biology and science articles for students to delve further into particular topics. There is also a dictionary section that gives students quick access to the definitions of important biology terms. This website is great also because it has a forum where students can discuss biology. This website can be a tool for students to learn more about biology and get quick reviews on certain topics if necessary. I would let my students know about this website so they can use it to enhance their learning of biology. Assignments asking students to navigate the website can be given to get themmore invested in using it.

When students learn genetics, one important process that they be introduced to is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Teachers usually teach cloning by cell (with plasmid, a host, etc) first because it is less challenging for the students to understand than PCR. This website is useful because it gives a clear but concise explanation on how the process works. The clear visuals and animations provided also facilitate student comprehension. The only drawback about this website is that some of its vocabularies may be advanced, so the teacher may have to offer explanation on some words. I would give this as a handout for students to read to help them understand PCR.

This section of the PBS website offers both students and teachers a phenomenal resource on evolution. There are vidoes on Darwin's life, genetic change and variations, extinction of various species overtime, the conflict between religion and evolution, and so on. There is also a teacher's section that gives teachers strategies for teaching the topic and ideas for in-class activities. This website is a rich resource for teachers teaching evolution and for students who want to learn more about this fascinating subject. In class, the teacher and the students can do the activties on the website or look at videos on evolution.

This link is probably the "coolest" one I have found. From my own personal experiences in biology labs in middle school and high school, I never had enough time to explore the microscope and properly learn to use it. There were either not enough microscopes for everyone or not enough class time to actually do much with the microscopes. Then comes this virtual microscope for students of today! This website gives the user a step-by-step tutorial on how to use the micrscope. The checklists on the side of the page serves as a reminder for the user on the steps needed to accomplish certain things with the microscope. The narration is clear and the visuals are quite cutting-edge, both of which will help capture the interests of today's students. This virtual microscope can be a great tool for students to learn more of the microscope on their own in addition to from the class. The teacher can also go over the proper usage of the microscope by showing this virtual microscope in class as well.

This website houses a collection of animations depicting molecular and cellular processes such as enzyme catalysis and cellular tranport. The animations are short but clear. I can use these animations in class to enrich my lesson and faciliate student understanding. For students who are visual learners, these animations can be particularly effective.

This is an online biology textbook. What makes it better than a traditional textbook is that is allows the user to search terms by simply typing the search word(s) in, which is much easier than flipping through pages. Since most students today have phones and other gadgets that allow them to surf the web, this online textbook can be their go-to place for a quick review or an in-depth study. I can inform my students of this website and its usefulness. To help establish the routine that students will use the website, I can reference it in lessons or have students look up certain topics in biology using it.
