2018-19 — Sonoma State University— Quality Assurance RFP
2018-19 — Sonoma State University— Quality Assurance RFP
Proposal Summary: At Sonoma State University, we proposed to do the following: Offer SSU-developed Online and Blended Teaching Excellence Program (OBTEP) course in each regular semester going forward with increased number of faculty participants; Increase state support offerings from SSU to CSU Fully Online program; and Submit formal QLT external reviews from previous OBTEP participants;
We were able to complete the following: Multiple previous participants are currently in process of QLT self-review with intent to submit for external review by Fall 2019. We continued to offer the OBTEP course for each semester this academic year, and increased number of participants from 6 - 11. Three of our Spring participants will be running their newly developed online courses in Fall 2019 including QLT reviews to follow with intention to offer through CSU Fully Online.
Campus Goal for Quality Assurance
The main focus of our proposal was to enhance online teaching at Sonoma State and improve online quality course offerings. Continued funding to support the OBTEP for faculty facilitation and stipends for participants is needed. Additionally, evidence of ongoing succcesses will foster buy-in from department leadership. Continuing to focus on increasing quality online course offerings meets the needs of our distance and working students in our diverse service locations.

Student Quality Assurance Impact Research
Increased access to quality courses for distance and working students who require flexibility and geographically available learning modalities represents decrease of barriers to graduation. Through the accumulation of completed QLT reviews as part of this process, we are building a body of evidence that reflects quality online and blended teaching. Student Evaluation of Teaching Effectivenesss surveys are conducted for each course and contribute some information regarding quality and success of online courses.
