Favorite Poem Lesson Part Two

Step Three: Flipgrid Assignment

Directions: Before completing your Flipgrid project, be sure to explore The Favorite Poem Project and watch how people discuss their favorite poems. Then, go to our class Flipgrid page and discuss your own poems. TWO-MINUTE MINIMUM.

Things to include in your discussion:

  1. Why you chose the poem.
  2. Your favorite lines, phrases, and/or images.
  3. Discuss your analysis of the poem, including its theme, and your major takeaways from the poem.


Step Four: Respond

Directions: Respond to at least TWO of your classmates' Flipgrid posts. ONE-MINUTE MINIMUM

Things you may mention in your responses. 

  1. What you liked about your peer's analysis/discussion.
  2. Any clarifications or further explanations.
  3. If you're considering of reading their poem and why?


Overall Assignment Scoring Guide: 24 Points

  • Explanation of why you chose the poem (5 points)
  • Discussion of elements (5 points)
  • TPCASTT & Analysis (10 points)
  • Peer response (4 points)

SLO & Objectives

  1. Read and annotate their chosen poems.
  2. Analyze their chosen poems using the TPCASTT Graphic Organizer
  3. Record a Flipgrid video discussing their analysis and takeaways from their poems.

Technology Requirements:

  •  Computer with Internet Access
  • Headphones/earphones with microphone
