Lambda Chi Alpha Philanthropy Chair

As a member of Lambda Chi Alpha I was elected to philanthropy chair. I was responsible for organizing an event called Pumpkin Bust. This is an annual event the fraternity puts on. Pumpkin Bust is an event where teams of 6-10 people sign up to collect cans and cash, for one month, to be donated to Feeding America. At the end of the month in celebration of all of the food and money raised, pumpkins are smashed in a series of competitions and games. This year over 800 cans and $1500 were collected and donated to Feeding America.

Another event I took part in organizing with my fraternity was Teeter Totter. This is an event where we set up our 30 foot long teeter totter near a major road and keep it going for 48 continuous hours. While this is going on we ask for donations for Special Olympics. This year we raised over $7,000 for Special Olympics.

Minka Home Demonstration

As a nutrition student I was invited to assist in the evaluation of living conditions in the Minka home on campus. Minka homes are small homes designed to fit an elderly or disabled persons specific needs. My role in this project was to give input on the kitchen layout and give different ideas to make the design better for specific disabilities that would allow an individual to cook easily in the home.
