Welcome to 6th Grade History! 

Hello Historians! Welcome to another exciting week of 6th grade history! This time, we are heading way back in time, before Humans like us even existed. Hang on to your seat, we're going back in time to over 2 million years ago! 

Learning outcomes:

6.1     Students describe what is known through archaeological studies of the early physical and cultural development of humankind from the Paleolithic era to the agricultural revolution.
1. Describe the hunter-gatherer societies, including the development of tools and the use of fire. 
2. Identify the locations of human communities that populated the major regions of the world and describe how humans adapted to a variety of environments. 
3. Discuss the climatic changes and human modifications of the physical environment that gave rise to the domestication of plants and animals and new sources of clothing and shelter.

Your weekly to-do list:

1. Watch the following video 
   Early Humans 
2. Take notes for the video. See Assignments for criteria. The next due date is July 30th. 
3. Read pgs 20-45 in your History Textbook. 
4. Create a slideshow based on your assigned Hominid. Check the Group tab for your assigned Hominid. Check the Assignments page for more information. 
5. Be prepared to present your slideshow to your Jigsaw group during our zoom session on Thursday July 2nd. 
6.  Email me your exit ticket. You must write 100-150 word paragraph answering the following question: If all Hominid species were alive today, which would you prefer to be, and why? You may not pick Homo Sapiens Sapiens. This is due Friday July 3rd.
