About Me
About Me
My name is Sara Kobilka and I am drawn to the term "Renaissance Woman" to describe myself and my background. I've lived through the Midwest (MN, IA, WI, MO), in Tucson, AZ and I currently reside a few hours north of New York City in the Hudson Valley. My career path has been a winding road full of twists, turns, difficulty climbs, exhilarating drops, and plenty of opportunities for fabulous views. I have undergraduate degrees in Broadcast Journalism (University of Missour-Columbia) and Atmospheric and Oceanic Science (University of Wisconsin-Madison) as well as a Masters of Science in Science Education (Montana State University-Bozeman).

I am the owner and principal consultant for Renaissance Woman Consulting LLC. I'm passionate about education, communication, outreach, networking and DEIA issues. I've spent years specializing in science communication in TV/radio, education and the non-profit realm, utilizing my training as a scientist, journalist and educator to bridge gaps between the scientific community and those who consider themselves to be outside of it. I'm involved nationally in diversity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and STEM engagement initiatives that seek to inspire interest and excitement for STEM broadly. Partnerships and equitable collaboration have been a huge focus of my work as I connect people and organizations with similar interests and help them strategically work together. I'm involved with teaching/education in other realms as well, including facilitating/moderating virtual training for out-of-school educators, tutoring and camps on a plethora of topics, ELL training, fitness instruction and broadcast journalism. I enjoy a Renaissance woman life-style filled with unusual adventures and intriguing people.
As an avowed lifelong learner, I'm always looking for opportunities to learn more and I'm taking Exploring Emerging Technologies for Lifelong Learning and Success virtually through SUNY. I hope to learn about new tools that I can not only use in my own work, but share with my collaborators and clients to improve the quality of the amazing work they are doing.
