In NUTR 203, I have learned about the MyPlate model and how to balance a healthy diet in order to optimize health. I have also learned about different eating disorders and how to treat them.
Demonstrate knowledge of nutrition as it applies to food service, dietetics, and wellness.
In NUTR 203, I have learned about food service, dietetic, and wellness and about how nutrition is important to each. In food service, it is important to provide and serve food in ways that is sanitary and nutritionally beneficial. In dietetics, knowledge of nutrition is extremely important in order to create a healthy diet and fuel the body correctly.
Demonstrate problem-solving skills in food service, dietetics, and wellness.
I have learned that issues will arise causing it to be difficult to life the healthiest lifestyle in some circumstances. For example, when somebody has a food allergy, problem-solving skills need to be used in order to create a diet for them that still is balances and optimizes their health.
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply management principles to nutrition and food service.
Present and evaluate food and nutrition education programs to a variety of audiences.
Assess the role that behavior, economics, and dietary supplements have on planning and eating healthy diets
Demonstrate basic food preparation and presentation skills.
