Mathematics is for everyone!
Mathematics is for everyone!
Purpose: to help high school students overcome challenges in Quadratics
Algebra 101- Solving Quadratic Equations
Self-paced Tutorial
Quadratic equations are a fundamental topic in high school mathematics around the world. Moreover, like linear equations, quadratic equations are essential representations used in other disciplines, such as physics, engineering, and design, due to their usefulness in solving real-world problems and mathematical modelling.
Methods for Solving Quadratic Equations
Solving Quadratic Equations: This high school level tutorial is developed as a self-directed course of study. In this first tutorial, only two methods of solving quadratic equations will be covered. Though students are expected to have the required pre-requisite skills, a page has been included with resources reviewing the necessary previous knowledge
Learning objectives:
use factoring to solve quadratic equations
apply the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations.
Tutorial Content
The following resources are available to meet the objectives:
- video resources- modelling the steps for solving quadratic equations using factoring and the quadratic formula
- ebook- to provide supplemental information and further examples
- online calculator- to verify solutions to practice questions
