Instructions for MARC Export:
- Run the Extract Keys for Marc Export report found in the bibliographic group of reports. This report flags the bibliographic records that are to be exported, but does not actually export them.
- If you make no selections, you will select all bibliographic records in your system. It is therefore important to make appropriate selections in the report if you do not wish to export the whole database.
- Switch to the Utility module and select the MARC Export wizard.
- Right click on the MARC Export wizard, click properties. You will see a series of options.
- Include 999 holdings tag? The 999 holdings tag includes call number and item information held outside the Marc record. Check this box if you would like item information to be in the export.
- Include local and junk tags? These are tags that do not export by default (for example, the 856 tag may be flagged as local in the format policy)
- Export Symphony catalog key to MARC tag: 001. This enables you to choose whether to export the unique catalog key for the record, and if so to which MARC tag. This catalog key is not meaningful outside your Symphony system, but does provide a unique identifier. The default is to use the 001 entry (WorkFlows 3.2.1 and above). Do NOT use if you are going to be reimporting these records with the load bibliographic report. If this is NOT checked, then the title control number is exported into a 035 tag.
- Format of the output file? MARC or flat. For exchange with other MARC systems, you should choose MARC format. Flat gives you a text file. If you have a Unicode system this option is hard-wired to be MARC.
- Sirsi identifier that starts with "u" in 049$a. That is the value Summon is set to use as the unique identifier to process the records,
- Export all records to one file OR Include X records in each file: X000 (Default is 10. If you are exporting 10,000 records and choose 5,000 records per file, this will create two files that you have to export individually. Do not enter the number with a comma.)
- View all records OR Include X records in each file: X000 (Default is 10).
- Having set the properties, you can now run the utility.
- You can choose to save the exported records to the server or to your PC. If you choose to save to the server, the file will be saved to the server's /tmp directory. You only have to enter the file name that you want them to have in the /tmp directory. It is always a good idea to confirm that you have a large amount of space in /tmp before beginning this process. If you choose to save to the PC, you can specify which directory on the C drive, as well as the filename. The default directory is Program Files/Sirsi/Jwf.
- Choose the file to export. These will be called vol1, vol2 or vol001, vol002, etc. if you have decided to not export all the records to one file. If you are exporting all the files to one file this option will not be available.
- You can choose to Preview the records before exporting them, on the Preview tab. A flat ASCII file of the records will open up in Wordpad for previewing.
- When you choose to Export the records, the export file will be created. A MARC Export report log will open up in wordpad to confirm the export.
- Save to Summon FTP folder on the Desktop C:\Users\robertson_s\Desktop\Summom FTP\update2018126 (After you close the gadget in Sirsi it will give you the path to the file.)
- You are then free to copy these exported files to another medium or ftp them to the vendor.

Books and other library resources are selected and ordered by the acquisitions/reference librarian (Charles May).
New orders are processed by technical services.
Gift books, including Reserve Books, are processed by the Library Assistant III,
Once the books are processed they then go to the cataloger to be cataloged.
After they are cataloged they go back to technical services to have the spine and book pocket labels printed.
The new books then go to the library director's office (Faye Jones) to be selected for a new book display. The other books then are shelved by student workers.
When books are weeded they are checked out to withdrawn so they can be removed from the catalog.
Then they are removed from the OCLC holdings.

WorldCat cataloging partners transition
To find the number of EBSCOhost e-Books in our collection type: FT(space)Y in the basic search box.
To fix the EBSCOhost e-Books 856 proxy link authentication problem: (4/6/2016)
SIRSI will first set all EBSCOhost e-Books to delete
We then will run the remove/discard report (REMDISCARD Report)
Then run the BibLoad report to load all of the EBSCOhost e-Books back in the catalog
Then SIRSI will do a complete rebuild of the system at night. (There will be a couple of hours where the catalog will not be available.)
The reason why it is showing up right now in E-Library is due to dynamic indexing. Which means it is only temporarily in there. The moment an adutext report runs it clears that out and will be gone. This why the rebuilds are needed.
