Narrative Techniques of Literary Movements: A Student Research Journey
Narrative Techniques of Literary Movements: A Student Research Journey
This text is a companion resource that surveys story and narrative techniques of literary movements, such as Romanticism, Realism, Naturalism, Modernism, and Post-Modernism. Students and writers learn the history and tenets of several genres of short fiction, such as magical realism, science fiction, fantasy, etc. to see how techniques from those genres can inform their contemporary fiction.
The information in this text was developed in collaboration with Amy Sage Webb-Baza, Bethanie O’Dell, and former students in EG583: Advanced Fiction Writing. The content was originally shared as a library guide hosted via SpringShare but has now been restructured into a more accessible format as a booklet.
Literary Movements:
- Romanticism
- Realism
- Naturalism
- Modernism
