Creating Custom GPTs for lectures, activities, HW and weekly checks

Each Chapter has multiple lectures and each lecture Custom GPT and course notes. The course notes are "guided" course notes where students fill in the blank areas. Students purchase a course packet of notes at the beginning of each semester and are expected to take notes during the custom GPT Lecture.

Creating Custom GPT activity: To create an activity, open ChatGPT. In the left margin click on "Explore GPTs". In the upper-right hand corner click "Create". Give you custom GPT a name and description. For each lecture file , you will copy the instructions over to the Instructions box. Note that this has a character limit. If the character limit is exceeded you can shorten the instructions or only include the ChatGPT instructions and save the rest as a file and upload the file. You should also upload the lecture course note files and if applicable the StatCrunch file. For Conversation starters, type something like "Help me get through the notes step by step" or "help me get started with the activity". I will usually check the "Code Interpreter & Data Analysis" also. You can now "Create" the custom GPT and share it with students.

StatCrunch Information

This class uses the statistical software package StatCrunch. Students can enroll in StatCrunch here.

In order to access the data sets, students will need to join the Math 105 group in StatCrunch. After enrolling in StatCrunch, students can join the Math 105 group by clicking join group or by searching groups using "math 105 chico" as a prompt.

Here is a handout for StatCrunch instructions: StatCrunch Instructions. StatCrunch instructions are also embedded into the chapter notes.
