Ready-to-Teach: Three 90-Minute Lesson Plans

Aim: learners open a meeting, state one point, and close, using fixed phrases. Materials: the Starting a Meeting lesson (www.englisch-lehrer.com/en/lessons/starting-a-meeting) plus its worksheet in the English or German version.

0-10 min: warm-up - "the worst meeting you have ever been in"; board the pain points.

10-25: interactive lesson on devices, pairs comparing answers.

25-45: phrase drill from the worksheet; chorus first, then pairs.

45-75: simulation - three-person meetings (chair, reporter, questioner), rotate roles.

75-90: feedback on three recurring errors; homework = the Out-of-Office lesson from the Lesson Library page.

Aim: learners describe a simple chart and signpost a three-part mini-presentation. Materials: the Signposting Language lesson (www.englisch-lehrer.com/en/lessons/signposting-language) plus any chart from the learners' own work, anonymised.

0-10 min: show a chart, elicit everything learners can already say about it.

10-25: interactive lesson (signposting), individual, self-checked.

25-40: worksheet phrase bank; match signposts to the three parts of a talk.

40-70: each learner presents their own chart for two minutes; peers tick the signposts they hear.

70-90: second attempt for volunteers; homework = one Meetings & Status Updates podcast episode with its built-in comprehension test.

PLAN 3 (B2): DISAGREEING DIPLOMATICALLY

Aim: learners soften disagreement in discussion using concession connectors. Materials: the Although vs However lesson (www.englisch-lehrer.com/en/lessons/linking-words-contrast-reason) and the Agreeing & Disagreeing lesson (www.englisch-lehrer.com/en/lessons/agreeing-disagreeing-english).

0-10 min: two scripted dialogues (blunt vs diplomatic); learners vote which speaker they would rather work with.

10-30: both interactive lessons; split the class, each half peer-teaches its lesson.

30-50: rewrite blunt sentences from the warm-up using although, however and that said.

50-80: structured debate (return-to-office, four-day week) - one concession connector required per turn.

80-90: language feedback; homework = the worksheet plus one Negotiations podcast episode.
