Writing Process

This mini lesson will assist students in organizing their own writing. It will show them each step of the writing process, and how to categorize and organize their ideas. It is a great resource for ELA and writing teachers that don't have the time to have writing conferences with each and every student.

1. Go to www.essaypunch.com. 2. Click on "Start Writing Now" located to the left of the screen. 3. Follow each prompt as the tutorial guides you through the writing process.

Students must possess typing skills and be able to generate thoughts based on a provided writing prompt.

Topics

The lesson can be altered to fit any writing topic. For this lesson, the computer generates a writing topic so that the students can familiarize themselves with the program. Then, students can apply their personal writing to the program.

Learning Objectives

Students will learn how to use the interactive writing tutoral called "Essay Punch" in order to view each step of the writing process in detail. Students will become familiar with each step of the writing process. Students will generate their own thoughts based upon a pre-selected writing topic. Students will express their personal thoughts and opinions with the class.

Assessment

Students will be evaulated formally through the completion of the activity. Students will be assessed informally through verbal response and feedback.
