This is an internet based project. Students will work in pairs and conduct an internet search on hip or knee replacement surgery. A 500 word report (which cites internet sources) and an in class presentation is required.

Project Prompt
Students will work with a partner and choose either hip or knee replacement surgery. Students will use the internet and site sources, and write a 500 word report (double spaced, 12 font). Students reports wil be due in a week, and an oral presentaion is required, and both students need to participate. Please address the following questions when writing your reports.
1. Which year was the first surgery of thei type performed? 2. What causes people to require this surgery? Which kind of joint is replaced, and what kinds of synthetic materials do they use to create this artificial joint? 4.Compare and contrast the natural joint with this artificial one. 5.What activities do you think these people weren't able to do before the surgery? 6.Around how much does this type of surgery cost?
