Exercise

The Samurai and the Medieval Knight of Europe are frequently compared. This exercise will focus exclusively on the information provided about the Samurai. Click Exhibition. Click Enter. The images of three Samurai will come on screen. Collection information about the armor, helmet, sword, mark, sword fittings, and accessories. At the bottom of the screen Click on each of the following: metalwork, netsuke, sagemono, lacquer, painting, ceramic, and sculpture.

The sceond part of this exercise is designed to encourage students to select books/magazine articles/websites, which will provide information about the medieval knights of Europe, their armor, weapons, and interests.

Write a 5-7 page paper comparing and contrasting the samurai warrior of Japan with the medieval knight of Europe. The paper chould include conclusions and a bibliography of sources.
