What's it like to have a Learning Disability?

This activity is designed to give participants a hand-on experience of what it is like to have a learning disability in the areas of reading, writing , math, and attention. Online simulations are used to increase one's understanding of how a learning disability impacts students' academic performance, emotions, and behavior.
Course: Students with Exceptionalities, Teaching Secondary Students with Disabilities, Teaching Individuals with Learning Disabilities, K-12.

2.Complete at least 1 of the simulations in each of
the four sections; Reading,Writing, Math, and
Attention

3.Respond to the following: (List the 4 simulations
you completed.)
a. What are some of the emotions/feelings you
had while doing these simulations? Give
examples.
b. How might the learning difficulties you
experienced in these simulations
impact a student's academic performance,
motivation, behavior?
c. Do you think there is a connection between a
student's academic performance and their
behavior? Explain.
1. What are the implications for you as
a future teacher? What can/will you
do as a future teacher to address this
issue?
d. As a future teacher, how will you use this
site? Explain.
