Radioactivity Web Assignment No. 2

Web assignment on radioactive decay using an applet
by Yevgeniy Miretskiy. Assignment is qualitative and
requires no mathematical computation. Applet
displays a radioactive sequence that can be animated.
User is then asked questions about the relationship
between the abundances and the half-lives of the
isotopes. List of helpful resources included.
Course: Second semester, introductory physics; modern physics.
Share

Interative representation of radioactive decay series: Th232, Pu241, U238, U235. see more

Exercise

See

Requirements

Understanding of basic radioactivity. Knowledge of scientific notation.

Topics

Radioactive decay, radioactivity, exponential rate, radioactive sequence.

Learning Objectives

To allow the user to understand how the half-life of an isotope affects its abundance in a radioactive decay sequence.
