After teaching my AP Biology class about Cancer last week, this link would of been very helpful. This website would of been a great interactive way to teach my students the definitions of cancer. It also creates a rich visual explanation for the process of uncontrolled cell division.Being that the students have a take home test next week. I may give them the link to the website because it can be helpful to study from.I also liked how you can customize each video with/without narration or sound effects. This can also help the students study because they can explain the processes in their own words without earing the answers. Not to mention its from our local Cold Spring Harbor!

My class is currently learning about mitosis and meiosis. The website Cells Alive! is a great tool because it not only gives the definitions and how parts interact with each other, students can use it to study outside of school because theres interactive puzzles and quizzes. The site also gives great visuals that can be incorporated into my lessons. Having a a nice visual of mitosis while going over the definitions not only makes it easier for you to teach the topic, but easier for the students to comprehend.

In the environmental class that I am observing, the current topic is renewable resources. This site not only is a governmental site(which we can teach students is a trusted/reliable source), it also has great visuals. There are interviews, diagrams, and many examples of how we can use wind energy as a renewable. It also shows maps, that students can use to see whether their area they live in is a good spot for wind power. I would like to use some of the graphics of where wind is most prevalent and how wind is captured to show the class.

Wow! what a strong video. This video would be great to show a class before teaching them about populations and how each country is different. The video goes on showing what the world would look like if there was only 100 people. It shows how many would be hungry, disabled, white, black, asian, how many would have computers..... It really puts into perspective the population numbers and how we(Americans) are such a small number. It also shows just how prosperous and lucky we are compared to other parts of the earth.

Another awesome website and a Editors choice on Merlot. This site shows every bit of information that a student needs to know about DNA and genetics. It not only is a great site for students to review off of, but can help the teacher with images, videos, and helpful tips to add to their lesson. It even goes into the history and people who "discovered" DNA. Its broken down into alsmost book like chapters, each about a diffrent stage or process of DNA. This helps direct students and teachers throughout the site.
