However, once you realize you can adjust the ml amount that is added to both the water and the buffered solutions, and you can pick your pH indicator (Bromthymol Blue or Methyl Red) your students will see how the water becomes/stays acidic or basic while the buffered solution resists change. The concept of pK is present but not explained.
