Content Quality
Rating:
Strengths:
- There are some great podcasts from CEOs, Professors, Co-Founders, Presidents, etc that discuss what it takes to maintain a business such as passion, creativity, patience, the importance of customers, ways of balancing work and life.
- The podcasts discuss many different types of businesses such as electronics to biopharmaceutical industries.
- These are all free as long as the user will download the iTunes application.
- Can be used on a computer, a tablet or a smart phone.
Concerns:
- There are a lot of podcasts on many different topics. If this is used in a classroom setting it would be important to have a clear list of the titles or date of the podcast in order to not have to scroll through podcasts that date back to 2005
- This may also not be the most effective way for some students to learn. The podcasts are slightly dry and could see an issue with students "zoning" out due to the length of some of them
Potential Effectiveness as a Teaching Tool
Rating:
Strengths:
- Tremendous variety of topics.
- The length of the interviews is 45 minutes to 60 minutes
- Well known and high-level experts are interviewed.
Concerns:
- Because the podcasts are dry the use in a classroom may cause students to lose focus
Ease of Use for Both Students and Faculty
Rating:
Strengths:
- Clicking and listening to the different podcasts is relatively simple as long as you have Itunes on your computer.
- Podcasts loaded up easiy
Concerns:
- Would only be difficult to use if you are trying to listen to a podcast on a certain topic due to large number that are available.
Other Issues and Comments:
Could be very interesting to those who are looking to own their own company as well as those who enjoy learning about business in general such as College of Business/Management/Marketing students
